Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs
Greg Lampe is currently serving as the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the University of Wisconsin Colleges (UW Colleges). He was appointed to this position in May 2009. As the UW Colleges Chief Academic Officer, Greg provides leadership for long-range institutional growth and access, curricular oversight and management, and academic and program review at the academic department and program level.
Greg has been serving the UW Colleges as an administrator since July 2000. From July 2007 through April 2009, and from July 2003 through December 2005, he served the UW Colleges as the Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. When he was not serving in this interim role, he was the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, a position in which he had served since 2000. Prior to coming to the UW Colleges’ administrative offices in Madison, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at the UW-Rock County campus in Janesville. In 2004, Greg was promoted to full professor.
Greg began his career with the UW Colleges at the Marshfield/Wood County campus in 1983. Prior to becoming a faculty member at the UW Colleges, Greg taught at the UW-La Crosse in the Speech and Theatre Department for five years. Born in New Rochelle, New York, he received his bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University, Pennsylvania (1976), his master’s degree from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb (1978), and his doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1995).
